One of the trickiest things to get right in lighting is consistency. Consistent output, consistent color, consistent performance. You might have cove lighting that looks great, but it doesn't match the ambient light in the room. Or maybe it's the task lighting that just isn't a fit for everything else in the space.
That's why Inter-Lux thinks differently about lighting lighting systems. The P20 light energy is a 20 Millimeter rigid light engine designed to be a universal light engine for applications ranging from recessed ambient lighting to the undercabinet task lighting.
Core Performance of the P20
At its most basic, the P20 is a 0.7" square light engine. What happens from there is what makes it such a diverse lighting tool

- EldoLED DMX 0.1% dimming
Your Linear Swiss Army Knife
So we've established the P20 is a versatile light engine. But what makes this a swiss army knife lighting tool is all of the different ways the P20 can be installed.
Here's just a summary:
- Surface mounting
- Screw in clip
- Magnetic mount
- T-Bar Grid Clips
- Adjustable Brackets
- Fully Recessed mud-in or flanged
- Flush
- Regressed
- Suspended direct or indirect
- Wall mount (direct + indirect)
- Wall Wash
- Fully Recessed
- Semi-Recessed
- Surface Mount
- Suspended
- Perimeter system
- Mini-Edgeless (knife edge) cove
- Mini "Z" Cove
- Undercabinet
There are so many ways to mount the P20 that Inter-Lux has developed an interactive PDF to help you find the various extrusion options.
The P20 in Design Practice
OK so it's one thing to say you can mount this light engine in so many different ways, but what does that mean in practice? Let's take a look at some of the ways the P20 can be used.
Downlighting
There are 16 different mounting options to make the P20 a direct downlight. These range from a simple mud-in line of light to a deep regress hidden light source.
Cove and Wash Lighting
Indirect cove and wash lighting
When paired with multiple recessing and extrusion options, the P20 becomes an elegant solution for wall washing and cove lighting.
It comes down to consistent lighting
You might be thinking to yourself, "OK, but why?" The answer is simple. It comes down to consistency. Mixing lighting manufacturers means mixing light engines, which makes for inconsistent lighting performance from element to element. Even staying within the same manufacturer doesn't guarantee total consistency as some form factors will require different LED engines than others. The P20 makes it possible to have totally consistent light output and quality in multiple form factors.
How to Find / Specify the P20 on The Inter-Lux Website
When a product is capable of so many iterations it can be tricky to display on the website. Here's a quick break down.
The P20 is part of the Whitegoods family of products from Inter-Lux. Quick reminder - Whitegoods products are built right here in the US out of Baltimore. From the homepage, click products - whitegoods.
A gallery will display. Scroll down to the 20 Linear Series
Any of the images will take you to the product page for that iteration of the P20. Once you click one of the products there are tabs for the various documentation.
From there you have a one-page spec/cut sheet. There's also short form photometry and extrusion information. Similiarly, there are tabs with application guides, installation instructions and downloads for IES / 3D drawings.
